Jay Z Buys Luxury Champagne Brand ‘Armand de Brignac’ [News]
US rap legend and successful entrepreneur, Jay Z, has been at it once again, this time taking a little delve into the luxurious alcohol market. According to numerous sources the Forever Young hip hop artist has acquired the prestigious champagne company Armand de Brignac.
The somewhat surprising coup from the East Coast rap artist comes just days after his company, Jose Cuervo, sold the rights to their Don Julio brand of tequila. Arman de Brignac (or Ace Of Spades) was previously owned by Sovereign Brands.
“We are proud to announce that Sovereign Brands, a New York-based wine and spirits company owned by the Berish family, has sold its interest in the Armand de Brignac (‘Ace of Spades’) Champagne brand to a new company led by the globally renowned Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter,” Sovereign Brands has been quoted as saying.
The global director of brand communications for Sovereign, Yvonne Lardner, has been reported to have stated, in an email, that: “We have had a wonderful relationship with Jay Z throughout the years since he first discovered Armand de Brignac. He became interested in owning the brand and made us an offer we simply couldn’t refuse.”
Any further information about the deal is still unreported, but, what we do know is that Jay Z has been a fan of the brand for some time, even featuring the iconic bottle in his Show Me What You Got music video from 2006.
